Out of Texas.. I hadn't seen one of these since Marv Jorgenson's Eliminator. I sure would love to hear this thing run..

a Liberator to me. May be a good boat but could be extremely heavy. You never really know what you have in one of those. Liberators are like a box of chocolates...
Are the motors really 2.7's? Where in Texas is the boat located?
I know of a 25 Talon with tripples that ran high 120's & low 130's. Pretty impressive to hear it coming down the lake.

Eric Simon of Simon Motorsports used to offer a big-bore 2.7l kit for the 2.5 Merc.

big bore kits were pretty common place for a while. Alex Hledin, Eric Simon, GBR, all were building 2.7 Merc's.
They ran pretty good but pushing something of that size was not really ttheir intended purpose. Curious as to how they lasted on a big boat like that.

Dave at Liberator "CAN" build a good boat, but you never know what your getting.

Tim, pretty strong statement. I have two questions.
1. If you order a new one, how do you make certain you get a "Good One"?
2. If you buy a used one, how do you know what your're getting?

To answer you questions.
#1 Would be to watch it being made.
#2 Spend a lot of time inspecting it.
I've owned and seen quite a few of his boats. Dave does fabulous gel coat work, but the laminating is where you "Might" find problems. A few instances.
The boat I ordered from him was 1/4" thick on the front port side while the starboard side in the same location was almost 1/2".
I rigged a new 21' twin for a friend and in less than a year the upper part of the tunnel delaminated. He had my friend get his insurance to pay for the repair.
Last, on an older boat, 1/4" plywood was used as the core material and one side had never been wetted out with resin.
But, for the most part his boats are still good, just not as good as you can get.

Lake Travis. Pretty sure it's a Skater- 2.7 405hp.
This from the owner: "I wanted to get a boat that was not the normal typical 80MPH boat that was at least 28'. I searched for about 2 months during the winter and came up with a boat that was build in Toronto by the brother of the guy who owns Skater Boat Co. in Mich. As you know they build all the race boats for all the off shore manufactures because they have a patient on the composite that's lighter and stronger then fiber glass. But anyway, Alex is a Dentist by trade and he builds outboard engines for 8 international race teams. 3 in Italy alone. My boat has 3 x 2.7 offshore Merc. that produce 405HP each with Aviation Gas or 100/110 octane. What's nice about this boat is that I can run 40 to 70 MPH without spilling a beer and or hardly feeling any wakes. So it's a nice cruising boat that will jump up to 120 fast and then takes a bit to get to a GPS of 133 tops so far. And it's hairy for anybody because it rides on the engines basically since they are about 36 inches off the back of the boat. The bad part is that it's calculated to burn about 5 gals of fuel every 15 seconds when wide open."
