mercury model number

I recently got a mercury motor. Sticker say 30hp. The serial number on the mounting bracket says a922585. The only cross reference that I could find started out with a922 says its a 35hp 1986 model. Can anyone help with finding out what year and hp this engine is.

tried to go to mercury search, but it said its a eng built before the Mid 80's so go see a local merc dealier...which is a bunch of crap..

that serial number is for an 86 35hp...............post a picture and I can tell you the year of the motor..........if it is indeed a 30hp, then is it fairly new, but not with that serial number......

BTW, that serial numbered motor was sold by BARTON MARINE SALES in MO 12/16/1985
