Picked this up today and tested. Needs fresh gas and a tune-up!
Only turned the 13Dx25P DAH 4,500rpm:(
Once I get it cleaned up and base lined will do some mods and see what A 1996 48SPL
with nose cone will do?

 Lookin good. That is alot of cleaver for the 48. Its big in area, dia. & pitch. Id think if that makes 4500 something about 21 - 23 P could do it. I also wonder if the anti-cav wing is needed for some reason like control or just traction. or needed at all? Nice boat.

I believe the ScatCat was designed by Molinari for Baja. Neat little boat-

I've heard that rumor before, but never anything to back it up ... other than it is a tunnel hull. I've never seen any direct connection between Molinari and any pleasure tunnel hulls, here or Italy.

I have the OMC 3-blade alum 11-1/4"d x 21"p will try it next week after the tune-up.
Then start bolting on parts. In the end will probably end up swapping powerheads.
Clydes Ride aka: 14' GW Invader V-bottom with pad saw 5,000 rpm with the 13"x25" DAH.
Did not have hydraulic trim and was set up conservitive. It can go faster with nose up!
(Stock 326100 with a 160# cyl head , ported reed blocks and #58 main jets.)

Around 1985 when mini boat racing was booming I went to OMC service school and heard about Molinari having something to do with this boat. But, Molinari had jumped ship from Mercury and was driving for OMC so that may have been just some rumor to sell the boat. However, it does resemble the old 2+2 tunnel that Molinari influenced back in the '70's

I agree. They may have even used his name in ads in the context of "inspired by" if I recall correctly.

Mark,
I was around Bucyrus during that time and I'm pretty sure there was some collaberation between Baja and Molinari. I'm not sure of the extent. Even the origional Scat Cat stickers say designed by..... But who knows if it was truly "designed" by or just naming rights. Check out this this ad.

Looks like the motor needs to up a lot! Could use a short shaft and still raise it off the transom. To give you an idea on what tunnel boats run with no nose cone. In Sport C class I run my motor (center of prop shaft) 5/8" above the bottom portion of the sponson when the boat is trimed at 3 degrees. I use AutoCad to get this measurement. Our class runs an 11 1/2" +- dia x 18" pitch merc prop. Our motor is 40 hp. With a stock motor we see around 63 mph at 675 lbs weight.
