In the 25ssh class what year did the original 25ss deflector engine get replaced by the first version 25xs long mid section and then the year that the 25xs short mid section was introduced?

What is the dimension on the 25xs short mid section engine from the back corner of the clamp bracket to the center of the prop shaft?

Thanks

The early and late 25SS had two different tower houings due to the fact that the early ones were prown to cracking. The length of both 25SS and the early XS housings were identical. That length was 16.5 inches from the transom top to the prop shaft center. The later XS housing measures 13 inches and is the same as the 44XS. The years I will have to check but I recall the SS as an early 70's and the XS a mid first issue later 80's for the short. Hope the photos help.

The Tohatsu looper XS came out in 86. If someone with the tower details can confirm, I'm pretty sure the short tower (and the new swept back Quicky) was in use on the 25XS by 87 when it was also used on the 10XS and 44XS.

With a little trig you can see that the distance from either the bottom of the clamp bracket or the bottom of the boat back to the propeller or whatever you use as a reference point is dependent on the transom angle and engine kick in. Play with it yourself and you will see that the dimension you ask for will change with kick in.

I realize what you are saying is true regarding the dimension provided it is taken to the prop shaft end.point from the top of the transom back. However that is not what I was requesting. I was asking for the dimension to the propshaft centerline taken as the distance from the outer clamp bracket inner corner as a straight line at 90 degrees to the propshaft centerline. I believe Aeroliner answered that at 16.5"

I still would like to know when the 25xs first appeared in the 25ssh class.

Thanks

I will repeat as necessary What is your meaning?? I sure didn't get any indication in your first post of the year the Merc 25xs first came to the 25ssh class.

The XS was raced the first year it was made for sale. It was first made in 1986.

Thanks I got that from your post . What confused me was what was your meaning of "I will repeat as necessary" ?

The 25XS was raced in 25ss in 1986. They did not make them and have them on the shelf for 5 years waiting to be sold and raced.

The repeat comment goes to post #3, 4 days ago.
