Hi,i've been looking for a low water nose cone kit for a Yamaha 50hp.
I have tried Bob's & they say they don't make a kit for the smaller motors

They advised me to send in my gearbox & they can modify one to fit,but i'm located in Australia & would cost me a fortune in freight.

Anyone know of a kit available for this motor or any suggestions.

Thanks

apparently Ron Hill has cast a couple of small ones - why not write him a mail?

Ok,i did see the one's Ron has made, but i thought they were just nose cones without a low water pick up. I will send a pm to him, thank you for the reply

I'm pretty sure anyone with the skill to install it can convert it to a low water pick up

buy the kit , Make it fit, you can do it, i've done it. spend your $$ to have the cone welded.
you can shorten the cone, it's on hear, someware.

The added height you'll be able to run at will of course mean you'll wanna try different props. Good Luck

Turned out nicely, but the LU appears to be too low in the water. With a cleaver you could try underside of prop hub on same level as and parallel to keel. Had good results with this as initial setting on Vee-bottomed hulls. Good luck!

Yes is too low,i have some things to sort out before raising her up. Because of the extra length of the nosecone,i need to mod my transom set up,should be sorted by the weekend, then up she goes, cheers

That looks like a realy good job done.
was this welded on ? and was the original water pick ups just filled with weld etc ?
realy does look very good and like an original race gearbox.

Is it safe to use a jack plate on a cat ?
What's the speed differance in puting a cone n raising ?
And do a 13.5 cat like small diamiteres or large dia props?
Thanks tring to get in the cat world

It's safe to use a plate like in the photos above, but any setback and there's too much stress on the transom.

I think all the highest speeds tend to me with 11" diameter props, but maybe that's just because they're the easiest to get hold of. - for 50hp engines anyway
