I'm runnin a v bottom alum jon with a 30 yamaha. what would make more speed, a hydraulic jack plate or tilt & trim? i'd love to have both but that 10" setback would kill me.
thanks

Trim, prop height, weight, balance and prop are the most import items when trying to increase speed of a specific boat. I would think of the two (trim and hydraulic jack), that trim is by far the more important of the two. Once you have found the proper height for the rest of the set-up, you are pretty much done with that experiment. The advantage being that the hydraulic jack is much easier (and much heavier) to experiment with than a manual jack. You will find that you are continually using the trim, so my vote of the two, (trim or hydraulic jack) goes to trim/tilt. Capnzee:)
