I've made myself clear here before, but I'm a big Robbie Gordon fan. This weekend, for my birthday (April 25), my wife Laurie is taking me to Sonoma for the NASCAR Road Race at Infineon Raceway.
Laurie is a big Joey Logano fan, but she know I love road course and Robbie Gordon.
So, I had to take some propellers to Lynn Vick's today, so I stopped by Robbie Gordon Offroad on the way back to ask them if I could have some Speed Energy drink shirts.
AS I walked in to Robbie Gordon off Road Racing, I ran into Robbie. He was standing a pile of Speed Energy drinks. I introduced myself as Chad Hill's father.
Robbie smiled and said he remembered Chad. I told him we were going to Infineon to watch him win and he said he'd do his best...I said I was still sorry he ran out of fuel on the last lap at Indy a few years back. I said, I hope you run there again again...He said, maybe next year.
I gave him Chad's card and my card and told him about our business. He said he'd be in town next week and maybe he'd stop by on Monday....
I left and forgot to ask about Speed energy t-shirts...
Robbie, standing on 500 cases of Speed Energy drink, looked about as tall as I think he is.....He's a real hero to me!

Ron, you will be happy to know that Robbie G. is a fan of boats, too! I've ran into him here on Lake Norman (Charlotte) a few times over the years and we talked boats. I forget what make he had but it was either a 20'ish IO or a V-drive.

When Robbie was living full time in Orange, California, he and my son became pretty good friends. Robbie had a Fountain, and Chad 'Race Tuned" his propellers. Chad had a 30 foot Chris Cat, they hung out together at Havasu. Chad's picture was on Robby's web page for many months. There was a picture of Robbie's Trophy Truck jumping and you could see Chad giving the thumbs up while riding with Robbie..
Robbie is all racer, all the time. He's friends with Greg Foster. Johnny Kaiser, a California "KID" manages Robby's racing. (Johnny's dad was a Jet Boat racer). It is hard for Robby to stay focused on NASCAR, when he does all kinds of other racing.
When I talked to Robbie, last summer, 2011, he told me if Speed Energy continues to grow, that he will race the 2012 Indy 500. AS I told Robbie, I felt the SPEEDWAY owed him one (Robbie ran out of fuel on the last lap while leading). Robbie is one of the greats of the car racing world and I feel winning the 500 would just "PROVE IT".
Robbie and his sister support ski racing and I've been actively trying to get Speed Energy into boat racing.
My wife, Laurie and I went to Infineon Raceway last summer just to watch Robbie. Robbie does well, usually on road courses. I wore my Speed Energy Drink shirt.

That's cool info, Ron. Robbie is a racer! I wonder what he could have did in NASCAR if he had better equipment and really focused on it..

Nasser Al-Attiyah bounces back to win Stage; Gordon overall in 2nd place
San Rafael (January 2, 2012) - Stage 2 of the Dakar Rally was successful for Team SPEED; Nasser Al-Attiyah came from a 38th-starting position to win the stage on corrected time while teammate Robby Gordon finished third. Gordon now sits second overall in the rankings. It is the first time that Team SPEED had two HUMMERs on the podium for a Special Stage finish, making it a historic day.

I see that Robbie is going to race at Infineon next week. I give Robbie a lot of credit. From what I've heard, he has more sponsors for his Offroad Racing efforts than he can use, but his Offroad sponsors want no part of NASCAR. But Robbie still wants to race NASCAR.
Walmart in Mexico has bought more than 2 million dollars worth of Speed Energy drink. Rumor on th street is that the drink is selling.
Carry on Robbie, you have one BIG fan here. Here is to INDY 2013! Look for Robbie to race the 500 next year.

Robbie was the only other team in Nascar other than Penske running Dodges. Penske has been at the top with Mopar but has decided to go with Ford in 2013. Chrysler would like to find a quality team to take over their effort in Nascar but no one has taken them up on their offer. This would be a the opportunity for Robbie to compete in Nascar with the support that he currently can't fund by himself. Chrysler has all the body panels and support for engines. I understand that the team would have to have their own engine shop and this is why they haven't been able to find anyone. Most Nascar teams buy or lease their engines from a producer such as Hendrick. Penske built the fast Mopar engines but they will now be switching to Fords. Good luck, the Mopars have been faster than anything else on the track, look at the high speed tracks and the Dodges are always at the front. Anyway this could be Robbie's chance to be a big time team in Nascar, however time is running out for 2013, maybe he could do it for 2014.
I for one have been a Nascar fan but with no Dodges, I won't be tuning in anymore.
