I need to put a jackplate on my duck boat for a "smaller" outboard. Need to mount a 35hp 2 stroke 3 cyl Johnson to it (151 lbs). Boat is a 1548 aluminum modified "V" flat bottom. Any words of wisdom? So far in my research I've seen small jackplates from Bob's (ultra mini), T-H Marine (Atlas), jacked up jack plates (out of Florida), etc. Needs to be pretty tough, it will probably encounter some submerged logs, cypress knees and stumps at some point in time.

I had a CMC PL-65 high speed on a war eagle 1542 with a DT25C longshaft motor. The longshaft was a must as the motor would kick up without hitting anything.
Really, yea i gained top speed of about 2 mph but it slowed it down in the shallow stuff where just about any boat could keep up with me if not pass me.
Thats a lot of weight to hang off a duck boat and furthermore offset the motor by 5 inches. Your planing fulcrum will change quite a bit and my boat was a little squirrly to be honest. I took it all off and sold the jack plate and have never looked back.
