My new style tiller arm is set up to push when the throttle is twisted open. However on my 70 hp Yamaha the carb linkage needs to be pulled open. What is the easiest way to correct this? Do I need to take the inside gears out and flip them?

Been there done that.
Open the tiller. The handle drives a gear that on an axle. Turn that gear around to the other side of the axle.
You will lose the shift function.

I have an 02 yammi 90. Will a 40 tiller fit or be modified to fit? If not where can I find one that will fit?

xpress, the 60/70 takes a longer black plastic adapter that the other engines.
river rat, no. the yoke on the 40 is much shorter. You will have to have the 90 yoke. Also I have the block ready for you.

What tiller is best suited to a yamaha 70? Preferably with shift on the tiller as well

Thanks Fred,
so it looks like I'm after the tiller, cowling and pullstart from a Yamaha Enduro 60 - to convert a 70 for SLT use

you need to weld the crank on the 60- 70hp if you are goin to turn it over 6500rpms, 90 hp carbs are a must have, loose the choke plates= 2hp, 160 main jet, clip the tail off the wist pin clip

she don't like a lot of timin at big rpm, 17-18 deg max advance, on an SLT turn to 7800rpms

I imagine it would be! I'll try and find one in the UK, could you see if you can get me a rough quote for shipping? Cheers

OK. so are the powerheads the same? do they both make 70hp at the same RPM?
Is it possible to put a ces exhaust tuner on a standard 70?
hey fred how hard do these 70 yams go ,i remember you sayin a while back they hang with the omc's.
i been in slt years ago with a 70 ces ,told me i'd ****e my pants ,but truthfully i was disapointed .he was runnin a modded 15p vengence ,i'm hoping he was the one that was ****ing his pants ???
i know forsure guys over here were hitting around 105kph on the old z9 hulls with 17p props.they couldn't do better cause of the hull wanting to blow over.
what are you guys runnin on an aqarius hull?
the record is 119kph with a fifty toaster .eek.

Having problems getting my throttle cable to work, still pushes open but the carbs need pull to open. How do I go about flipping this gear?

don't think that tiller will pull, only push. 4 stroke tiller, you could move the pin then push would work.

So is there a difference between my tiller and the one in the first photo on page 1?

Anyone know if I can use a complete linkage from a newer 60/70hp? To change it from push to pull

If you require pull to open throttle you have to go older
Newer pushs older pulls
Ive overcome it before with chainging the black plastic carby advancer

Alright, you got any photos of what you did?
Apparently the newer block castings have an additional lug for mounting a cable reversing of some sort
