Is there anywhere to obtain oem color codes for omc? I am trying to duplicate a mid seventys evinrude hustler the white isnt a problem it is the blue that is used on the top of the cowl and the gearcase.
Does anyone have any real clear photos that shows the original colors I have a friend with a body shop that can match anything just need real clear visual of an original specimin

Tempo may offer something - likely in a rattle can, but you could have the color matched to a good automotive paint.

The old part number for the paint from omc is 172794 can anyone cross this over to a new part number that is available?

Seaway used to have most of the colors if you want to drop $10 a can. In my opinion, the second who ever switched to the brand they have from Tempo, who I think went out of business, the paints went to crap. There was nothing like Tempo laquers. If you want to get better paint for less money for the volume you are buying hit an automotive paint store and start the process of matching. Use epoxy primer, and colorize it to a shade lighter or darker than your paint coat. Much better results painting like that.

Most automotive paint stores have a paint matching service Our Orilleys auto store has a spectograph they scan a sample and finds the nearest code had pretty good luck with just a min of tinting even scanning some pretty faded colors

During the 70's I went to the local PPG auto paint store to get paint for a 1968 Evinrude and they just looked it up in their book and mixed it up. Try a PPG dealer and see.

The original part number for spray can was 172794 witch changed to 771273. OMCs color code was 74be1, engine spec was 1615. after lots of digging for PPG number I called factory they said they would try to give me a number. If they call back will post number.
Hope this helps Keith
