is it worth while cutting the tuner on a 59ci merc 55hp?
my motors pretty stock ,it has chris carson reeds and the reed blocks been polished ,also i have drilled a couple 1inch holes in the gearbox.
i usually only rev it around 5500/6000 rpm.

I have been told that not really any gain there on that motor, for the amount of trouble to get to it. And in most cases you will loose bottom end power.

Lets sit back and see if thats correct................

Sounds good don't do much maby dry out a bit faster don't affect bottom end unless you enlarge the opening at the very top

Cut it, if it don't work put a stock one back in it. That's the best way to find out the truth!!!

Jason, you know evrybody has a different idea. Its the one that works that is the good one. Thats Y he needs to just try it. Might work for him when it doesn't for Jon. Every Motor,Boat,Prop set up is Different. FYI I run a stock tuner with 1 3/16 cut off.
