What a treat the online video is! In some ways it beats spectating in person. The racing action is closer like in the best spectator courses such as Long Beach or Lodi in former years. It has been my opinion that long courses far from shore work against spectating and the attraction of new drivers to the sport. So broadcasts such as this are one of the answers to this issue. The sense of speed and excitement is more immediate in this close-up type of transmission. So, I think that online broadcast has good potential to boost the sport if the broadcasts are widely publicized beforehand.

Cameraman and announcer are to be commended for their role in making the broadcast event enjoyable. Additional information could be included for each and every class in a consistent format such as costs of entering each class, speeds, speed records, engine sizes, boat lengths, contact persons. Down time between races and during tows could be best used for viewer interest filled with driver interviews and segments on rig preparation in the pits. Helmet cams could also be interesting.

The webcast today reminds me that in the 50s there were live TV-casts of SoCal races at Lake Los Angeles?

Enjoyed what I saw. Was watching NASCAR but the boat races were good, even though I had no sound....Reminded me of Speedboat Rodeo, 1956. 7-C looked way cool trying to catch 2-U.S.
