The other day i was in my boat and my motor was running fine. then today when i tried to take off it just shut off like the the safety shut off cord was pulled. I started it back up and it did fine for a little while then it did it again. the motor would just shut off, it didn't bog down or chugg. Now the motor turns over but i have no spark. i checked the main fuse and it was fine. im thinking power pack or stator? how do i tell if it is one of those?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Just a guess but some times the kill switches go bad and you need to put a new one in.
It's happened to me before with the Merc kill switch.

this motor actually doesnt have a safety cord it just has a key. That was a bad example on my part, i apologize. can this happen with the keyswitch too?

If you have switch box with screw terminals, diconnect black yellow wire at box or if you got switch w/round rubber termilals..use push pin tool to pust out the black yellow wire, then spin over engine and check for spark...then you'll need a DVA meter to check stator or trigger assy..good luck:D:D
