View Full Version : With The Demise of Our President

Ron Hill

With the demise of the National Pepper Associations President, John Riner Woods. we lost control of the association. But with our new contract for social media, we have established control of the National Pepper Association. We are not connected with the America Pepper Association.

The National Pepper Association requires five peppers in every category to get points. The American Pepper Association requires only three peppers per category and they are not connected withe Union of International Pepper Growers.

With John Riner Woods demise, ,he left Gloria Crimm and myself in charge of the National Pepper Association. We are looking for volunteers for all Regons but Region 11 and 12.

We are considering, allowing Hawaii to be their own Region, except the peppers don't grow ell in Hawaii.

More later!

Ron...could you please explain how you earn points, and what are the categories?

Wayne, maybe I can give you some additional background info. First, in mentioning the officiers, Ron totally omitted the Treasurer. That would be ME. All monies should be sent to me. I, and my office are responsible also for high point tabulation.

All of this, of course, is clearly deliniated in the rule book. Classes, fees, and safety regulations. You might be particularly interested in one of the 12 NEW nostalgia classes.

Ron has a picture of four of our officiers recently taken. He might post it here. It is not a treasury issue, therefore I can't post it.

Pepper Events aren't easy to promote. They seldom get any national attention.

We need more classes, black pepper alone can't carry the association:

I'm suggesting:

1.. Green Bell Pepper as class one

Green Pepper Division I

Will be home grown peppers

Green Pepper Division II

Will be store bought peppers or farmer's market peppers

Both divisions will require a minimum of four peppers for points. Division Championships will require 8 peppers to qualify for the Summer Nationals.

2. Red Peppers

All rules from Class one apply

3. Yellow Peppers

Same general rules as class one and two, EXCEPT Yellow Peppers will be eligible for Winter Nationals Champions because of their vitamin C content. Because grwoing Yellow Bell Pepper is so difficult, Yellow Bell Pepper's Winter Nationals can have four peppers to make an event.

More classes to come.

If you'd like to join the National Pepper Association send $25.00 VIA PAY PAL TO RONHILL@HILLMARINE.COM . New members do not get any voting rights for five years, as we don't want new member running the organization.

So my peppers would not be legal? They are not exactly home grown. They grow where they want to, they are red, they are tiny, and will burn your eyelid if you scratch without washing your hands three or four times. Would these be legal in an outlaw class? or open class?

Ron, You've always had what you called "hair-brained" ideas, but this time I think you've gone too far. Of course we want our association to grow like the good days, but we don't want to change.

You can't possibly be serious about allowing green peppers into our organization. Do you realize how many green peppers are out there. Most of them are pretty stock, but a lot of them could be illegals. I see nothing wrong with giving them an "associate" membership or something of the like, but giving them the opportunity vote??? They could take over. We could accept their dues and send them a monthly or quarterly magazine , if we had one--but the vote, NO! No way, no how, no time.

And YELLOW PEPPERS. You know how I feel about them. They aren't like us. They're lowly snakes, Sidewinders, Boa constrictors

Think about it. Yes, we need the money from them, but think what they could do to our insurance. We need to bring back the good old days, but no changes to our basic rules.

For a small nomanal fee( to be determned at a later date ) we can have a crack (head) team of infomation specalest from the south market your product , only where red and green pepper don't mix , because somethings are just not right , but this could grow in to a major event as long as nobody under stands the rules. LOL
I really wish some body was listin that could help the problem.
One more reason it don't go over in the south.:)

Back when the National Pepper Association was in its "Glory Days", black pepper was the only recognized pepper.

Now, with jalapenos, banana peppers, wild Texas peppers, it maybe very difficult who will qualify for the Pepper Hall of Champions, as some regions don't have jalapenos.

I mean, Texas peppers can grow in December, how is this fair to people in the mid west where their *** is covered with snow in December.

Banana Squash, want to have their own Division. I guess a new Divisions would be good, but, we won't let them vote as they could easily take over if they had more members that the Black Pepper group. We need new members money, but not their vote.

Where is John Riner Woods when we need him?

For a small nominal fee( to be determined at a later date ) we can have a crack (head) team of information specialist from the south market your product , only where red and green pepper don't mix , because somethings are just not right , but this could grow in to a major event as long as nobody under stands the rules.

I'd vote to give these specialist a chance to tell as what we may be getting for our MONEY.

I would assume that Specialists would know what they are doing so, maybe we should just turn everything over to them Then, we'd have now worries.

Then, we would have to have my brother balance the books.

Forgive me Ron, but I didn't know that Russ would balance the books. I always thought he tilted them in his favor.;):D

Three Bananas and three Green Bells. The problem is you MUST have four peppers to get points and everyone knows you can't combine classes.

I've told you of my concern about green peppers. Many of them are not stock--they're illegal. I guess you're trying to imply that the above ar not illegals. Hanging out with bananas???

IN Arizona they could check those green peppers for green cards to see if they are legal. I think green cards should be a requirement for high points. We can accept national dues and entry fees, but no green card, no damn votes or high points.

Why couldn't a red pepper step up? A red would go along with whatever the rules were. (until it reaches a majority, and then makes the rules);) m Okay...now I get why new peppers can't vote.

Ron Hill
06-28-2012, 09:41 PM
What vitamin content do GREEN PEPPERS have? Red peppers vitamin content must be measured. And calories? My god, you couldn't let Red Peppers step up against Green peppers. But we do want their entry fees and membership money.

No way will "STEP UP" be allowed points.

Master Oil Racing Team
06-30-2012, 07:14 PM
I absolutely agree that step ups will not get points. But Ron...you steered me back to the very first question on my mind.

The Black peppers were the glory days as you confirmed and what I had always thought. That went back to the days when John Riner Woods was president and ruled the day.

I haven't gone back and searched those days, but after you introduced the green peppers, I started wondering. How do the rules work with green peppers competing against black pepper. and what about peppercorns. I guess that's what confuses me and why I was asking about the rules.:D

ADD: Don't Know of any vitamins in black pepper. Maybe some minerals.;)

I think I don't like peppers. But i do have a great idea, change the color of the fonts to silver, I heard it working great for some boating group, maybe then your group will get on TV.

It appears that I have peppers in my garden. So, green peppers won't get points, but they can enter and pay their fees. The National pepper Association will accept their dues, but no voting rights, correct.

Oh, hell, the sunflowers are not peppers and NPA is not planing to take on any more classes, especially if they aren't peppers. Sorry for the error with that picture, except to say, "Wow...cool sunflowers Ron and Laurie."

There has been a lot aof talk about dues, entry fees and and just plain payoffs. I have taken on my own to buy a bulding for the Assn. The NPA can afford it. It's in beautiful Seal Beach. It's a four story Palacial Office building. I call it the PO for Palacial Office. The NPA has the entire fourth floor. Our incoming cash box is simply PO box 4191. Send all moneys to Russ Hill, PO box 4191 Seal Beach, CA 90740.

I will personally deterrmine how to properly spend the money.

One thing I'm considering is a good consultant. Consultants are so inexpensive, considering how much good they do.

Each of you, even if you're not a voting member should send me your $50 dues. Remember they are not calendarized which means you wouled be good until this time next year.

Ron Hill

Russ,

You mean to say that the NPA will charge me for July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2012? You aren't going to make you join again on November one?

By do this "YEAR ROUND" Stuff, you are opening the door for Region 12 to have Chillifests, and Pepper Championship in December. I mean come on, guys from Region 5, 6 and 7 will be up to their asses in snow, while region 12 will be having events near the Mexican Boarder....North American Championships..collecting points.

Next thing you going to tell me is you plan to count points from January 1 to December 31. This will clearly give Florida and California a points advantage that they don't already need.

I the new PO with in sight of the Seal Beach Pier? It would be nice to keep an eye on your telescopes (See-Scopes) from the new PO Office building.

ADD:

Anyone planing their demise soon, can endow the National Pepper Association with a "LUMP SOME" or you can work with your trust some that tje NPA would get month or quarterly payments.

Russ has a motto: TTFM (The the money).....

I think I don't like peppers. But i do have a great idea, change the color of the fonts to silver, I heard it working great for some boating group, maybe then your group will get on TV.

I figure Russ could hire a consultant and see if changing fonts to silver would help us get on TV.

Real silver leaf? Or just silver paint? Probably no real difference when you are on TV.

Ron , your genius is amazing. I completely overlooked Rule 83, Section 8, Paragraph 3 where it discusses lifetime memberships. To summarize, it says regular or associate members may become lifetime members for $500. That's $1,000 with voting privileges. And for $1,500 the five year waiting period for voting can be waived.

I think that boat group I had written about, only used something a little like silver, it must have been carbon steel because I can see a little rust.

Once the powers-to-be of this "offical" pepper group desides what the fonts color should be, we can have a bake sale to get funds for TV!

I have a handful of chilipetins to take to DePue. These are the little red hot ones I sent to Bill Van. If anyone wants some...let me know. First come...first serve.

Ron Hill

Make sure you have four, even if your cousin brings two, otherwise you won't get points.

Master Oil Racing Team
07-14-2012, 07:37 PM
I'm still having trouble with this points system. I think I will have qualifying heats "Whew":D, and sort them by size so I have Pappa Pepper, Mama Pepper, Baby Pepper and Doctor Pepper to taste. That way I can have a full field with three teams and not get disqualified. The ones that didn't qualify can go into Charley's alligator stir fry.;)

Ron Hill
07-14-2012, 08:00 PM
I think, Russ has to help us here! I don't think we planned for elimination heats. So, we surely wouldn't want to get double points.

You realize we need new pepper to beat, not to be getting points and winning events?

This is the main reason Russ doesn't want Green Peppers voting, I mean they could take over, and god knows, "We" KNOWS HOW TO RUN THIS ORGANIZATION. IF GREEN PEPPER EVER GOT TO VOTE, THEY'D TAKE OVER. Next thing you'd know, Green Peppers wold think they are as good or better than other peppers.

Master Oil Racing Team
07-14-2012, 09:22 PM
Well....seems to me Russ should come to DePue and inspect my peppers. I will take the chance to cross the state lines, but once they are in DePue...they're history.

They start out green. I think they are probably a pepper that might not be able to be beat. At least in North America. So if you want a pepper to beat, maybe I should bring some green ones too. But only four. I'm not sure any other pepper could beat the green ones, but if we don't want green to win??????????????? :confused:Ask Russ.:D

Ron Hill
07-14-2012, 09:30 PM
Russ just doesn't want Green Bells to vote, for fear they'd take over.

Russ, isn't an inspector, he counts the money and collects the money, but he doesn't know "****" about inspecting. We have "SPECIALISTS" who inspect!

Scrutineers, are qualified to taste peppers. The NPA adheres to the Scoville temperature scale. Favor is not part of the equation, and flavor NEVER gets points.

he NPA uses the Wilbur Scoville scale of 0-1,000,000 in heatness.
