Hi folks

I have 1995 60hp evinrude 3cyl engine with power trim n tilt.
Model no BE60TLEOC
Serial no G 03751787 .

I have just put 2 new trim rams and all new seals in the power trim and cleaned it all up.
also given it a respray etc.
Its the fastrack trim unit thats on my engine.

My problem is with what oil to put in the trim unit ?

i need to know what oil to put in and how much of it ?

i have no idea of the amount needed and the manual dont mention how much of it.

The unit was completely drained of all the fluid.

some people have said use BRP trim oil etc, thats ok if the local agent stocks the stuff.
My local brp agent dont have any in stock.

So i need to know what other oil i can use and how much of it do i need.

thanks for that FASTJEFF

i have heard about using atf in different units before,

but was wondering if the seal material in the fastrack system is ok for this.

i read something somewhere a while back about DEXRON 11

is this a good fluid to use or does it need a different spec oil ?

would it need a later dexron spec ?????????

Ok filled it up with quicksilver power trim and steering fluid.

the unit Holds 700ml from complete empty.

everything now working fine on the trim n tilt :)

never again
its cost me £243.38 to stop the leaks and getting all normal.
The cheap price for the rebuild was only because i managed to save £170 by getting the
2 rams from bill higham marine instead of BRP..

He just happened to have 2 brand new rams up for sale on special offer...:D

seals were £71 and oil £12.38 a litre.

Trim now works fantastic, just got to rig up the trim guage now.
so much better not having tranny fluid all over the garage floor, no slipping over anymore.

yeah the wife dont like trannys of any description ha ha .

But a leak from this type of oil seems to get everywhere, just a small amount spreads and seems
like its a lot.
the stuff does seem to ruin clothes as well.
So now no more tranny fluid from the power trim.

BUT I have now to fit my hydraulic steering, and guess what fluid this use ha ha ha
