I bought a use inboard/outdrive pleasure boat 12 years ago (Yamaha 1992 model year), had the sea pump impeller replaced 10 years ago, only used the boat a couple of seasons because of the lake low water level. Question, does the impleller take a set, and how offen does it need to be replaced.

The impellor is probably useless now. yes they can take on a set.
it will look ok, but rubber does perish with time.
Its a very cheap simple job to do and i would 100% change it to be safe.
if the impellor is inside the boat its very very easy.
if the boat is on trailer and the implellor is in the leg, it shouldnt take any more than an hour to do,
unless you have a shaft that is frozen to the engine.!!!!!!!!!!
you should change the impellor every season if using the boat.
ive seen many realy nice engines go bang due to not changing such a simple thing.
Plus do it yourself and keep a spare, if its first time it will do you a big favour to know how to do it in future.
remember these can break up very easy if they get a bit of sand or grit in them.
shallow water can pull up plenty of grit and sand near the beach and on rivers !!!!
And dont forget to put a touch of water proof grease on the shaft spline to aid in future impellor replacements.
Put good marine grease on all the nuts and bolts, youl see why next time you take the leg off.
It makes life so easy and keeps everything from dreaded corrosion.
it realy is an easy job, and once youve got the knack, its 30 mins max time.
