I installed a 4 cylinder 50hp on a short shaft mid, just not enough. I have a 70hp merc I'm going to rebuild and install on the mid for my new 1552weldbilt semi v jon. Is there any mods that won't affect torque. I plan on running a jet pump on this motor besides the prop lower. Also, I'm thinking about using a new style transom bracket and swivel. Has anyone modified a long shaft swivel bracket to use with a short mid section. I want the newer style because the TnT unit is much smaller and lighter than the older twin ram setup. Lighter is always better!

I've done three Merc triples mounted on Mark 55 type towers (one with external reeds). The combination works very well and is pretty light: 150 complete with FG Shift.
Let me know if I can be of assistance.

I have alot of tools but are there any special tools I'll need to disassemble and reassemble the powerhead? I know I'll need a flywheel puller .
