Is there any differences in speed or hole shot if you have the same pitch cleaver? One prop being a over hub and the other being a thru hub!

That is a good question
and i would say the over hub will give better acceleration due to the prop being allowed to spin up faster due to exhaust mixing with the water giving the prop a lot of slip to let it spin upto power.
Ive had a few props in the past that gave poor holeshot then when i drilled 3 relief holes in the prop the hole shot improved dramatically..
I dont know what chopper props are like for bite on the hole shot as never had one before, but i have now got
a nice chopper prop myself thats over hub and will be trying it out very soon.

Thank you! Since I posted this thread I bought a over hub chopper and it is unreal! I love it! At first I had some slippage in the holes hot but I gave it 1 inch of setback and now my boat has wicked holes hot and top speed! I just ran a top speed of 59 mph with a 30 hp mercury

59 miles per hour !!!!!!!!!!!! WOW

I would of thought thats impossible with just a 30hp.

what revs and what pitch is the prop ,
what type of boat is this on as well ?

sounds fantastic

30 hp mercury running around 6800-7000 rpms with a 18 p chopper 2 from mercury! Great prop! I also put Chris Carson reeds in and they give me awesome bottom end and more top end as well! Great reeds!!! Me and my dad build my boat and its made of 1/4 softwood plywood, it's 48 inches wide and 14 feet long and weighs 172 pounds! We put epoxy resin on the running surface so it is a slippery little boat!

As you can see from the pictures the boat is very strong and light

Does anyone make an over hub semi cleaver for a V4 Evinrude lower ? Got a 60 Etec on a little boat I'm trying to get more stern lift so I can get more trim out of it

Give me some info on your setup? What prop and pitch! Any setback? What kind of boat and what does it weigh? How high is the cavitation plate from the bottom of the boat? Vbottom or flat bottom!? That should start us out lol

Oh yeah what gear ratio? And how long is the boat?

It's a 2012 Etec 60 2.73 gear ratio with 13.75 BRP Raker 18" pitch turning about 5950-6000 its on a 1546 Alumacraft semi V .080 gauge duck boat. 5" jack plate cavitation plate even with bottom. Boat weight is about 400-420 without motor or me. It should run a little faster than that not trying to break a record just trying to have fun in the swamp! I don't get much trim out of it before she starts porpoising. It plains fast breaks over and I get the water spray back to about my seat then it starts hopping. Haven't tried to trim through it didn't know if it'd help or not. I've asked a few ppl what I should do but haven't figured it out yet. If it was easy I could do it myself!!
