Racing Hydroplanes - Urgent help needed! - Can you telll me more about this boat?

Hi everyone!

I've been asked to make a model of a hydroplane (OC 0.500 class, I think) as a gift for an Ex-world-champion of 1969,70,72. It's very urgent. It is also a supprise, so asking the guy for infomation is a no no. I have only the Red boat pictured below to go on (him), sent by his familiy. And The other picture is of his late brother racing.

When I asked on boatdesign.net they recmended I post on here.

I know nothing about hydroplanes, and despite my best efforts cannot find the level of detail I'm after

I would like to make the model as accurate, and detailed as possible, to do so I need plans; ideally, but pictures/any more infomation on the craft would be great too.

I really hope someone can help?!

You can see deck detail from the photo, cockpit is about 17" wide, driver drives in the kneel down position, left hand on hand throttle, right hand on steering wheel behind front cowling. Hydro about 12'-0 to 13'-0 long, about 5'-6" at the end of the sponsons. Underside of Hydro, two sponsons at the front on either side, tunnel thru the center about 35" from one sponson to the other, tunnel area flat from the rear raising to about 3" or 4" at the front, the raise start about where the sponsons end, sponsons about 3" deep, and about 8" wide and about 5'-0 long, non-trip chine set at about 30 degrees. topside drive kneels on the floor which is about 2" thick at that point. Outboard motor is clamped to transom, transom about 2" thick set at angle of about 17 degrees. Cowling over outboard is removable. Cockpit about 10" tall. Hopes this help.

Do you have any ideas about the motor? I was told it could like likely be Koenig?

My guess it was a 4 cylinder Konig. The motor cowling has an opening for the Konig carbs. The Konig had 2 carbs and 2 pipes on the opposite side of the engine. The 500cc had 4 cylinders 2 opposite of each other, 2 cylinder face towards the front of the boat and two trailing. Most likely this boat had a foot lever mounted to the cockpit side combing that pivoted from front to back to slide the two pipes back, large rubber bands would have brought the pipes forward for top speed.

52894 This is a square block 700cc without the pipes but the 500 of the day was similar.
By the way my racing number was V-13 & Z-13
