I heard that Renato Molinari in his last appearance at Rouen in '84 drove a Inboard Cat with a Mercedes Diesel Engine. Anybody have pics ?

Renato won the Rouen 24 hours many times with outboards..but 1979 was in the inboard R-3 class.

True, he won in '79 with an Fiat inboard but in '84 he used a Mercedes inboard diesel and was dominating the race until he got hit by a competitor and had to forfeit.

Race is run over 3 days like 12-6-6 hours. Strangely the official race schedule isn't out yet... Is there not an auto translate feature in Chrome ?

The crew, consisting of Uvis and Atis Slakteris (Latvia), Stanislas Kourtsenovsky (Russia) and Bartek Marszalek (Poland) had this to say :

"The speed always takes you further, like a drug ... every racer knows!

The Balt Yacht Powerboat Team has once again joined forces with the powerful Latvian Riga Powerboat team Team. Under the name "Team Balt Yacht", two teams join forces to participate in the most prestigious competition, the 24 Hours of Rouen, France.

The trial of eight hours Augustow in Poland was a good test for us on endurance races and we showed that with better preparation, a challenge like the 24 Hours of Rouen should not be a problem. Thus, our preparation has started since early April, when the team studied the racing rules carefully to understand all the features of the Rouen race. Currently, the boat is being assembled and checked all his organs to be ready for the first tests that will take place in early May.

The boat will be used for the competition is a Baba hull, prepared specifically for this event. In garages Riga Powerboat Team, balancing the boat has just been completed, the engine is assembled and tested. Everything is now ready for the best results and the best possible performance."

What was going on with that ? I watched it, and am unable to interpret it. Honest mistake or was the guy mad at the other for something and crashed him after the race ?
