Hello..... In answer to your question, there never was a racing case made for these particular sized OMC engines in general. There are however, alternatives that are used in combination with both the 22 c.i.d version and even the 31 c.i.d version of these engines powerheads. Often times, racers who build (A-modified, B-modified/superstock and similar 400cc classes) use a homemade tubular midsection with mercury clamps along with a Yamato gearcase, Mercury "B" gearcase, and/or a Hotrod-Sidewinder gearcase. Basically, you have to build a frankenmotor with your powerhead. You can use the existing midsection and cowling and just fabricate an adaptation of the following mentioned lower units, if you want to be stylish with the build.

One thing I forgot to mention " just in case of unfamiliarity with this type of project ", is that you can use a mercury "B" midsection or Hotrod midsection as well. The driveshaft will need to be adapted with the correct top spline and there are also ( powerhead to midsection adaptor plates) available for this build up. Now, to be competitive, you must use the correct part# pistons and carburator, just to start with, as to convert this powerhead to a true 25hp version. The 18-20 hp set up will not be permitted via the technical rules. There is a gentlman I heard of who builds these types of engines. His name is Howie Pickerell. I don't know how to reach him, but there is a guy named Mike Delisa who can get you his #. Just E-Mail Mike at www.outboardparadise.com.

thanks for the help I have looked at all different types of mods. but the more and more I think of it I would still like reverse so maybe get a 6hp or 9.9 evinrude and convert it to fit my 20hp evinrude with a nose cone on it and low water pickups.

That sounds pretty good! You could acheive less water displacement and drag, still having a full funtioning gear shift capability
