Are you referring to the top seal for the gear foot or some other seal? Have you taken the old seal out? If not observe the way it is placed with the gear case removed. BTW to remove the top seal for the gear case it is located in the bottom of the mid section separate from the gear case. You have to remove the power head to punch it out with an appropriate length and diameter wood dowl rod or other poker rod.

Yes, top seal for the gear foot. It's taken out 6 months ago and I can't remember which way it was.

Based on my Y80 the seal has 2 lips one is spring loaded and that lip faces down toward the gear case. If your 302 seal is constructed like the Y80 it should install the same way.
