For those of you not attending the Region 6 meeting, you should consider Mark Suter's annual AOMCI antique outboard show Saturday October 18 in Byron, MI just north of Fowlerville. Dick Austin's fabulous "Looper Beast" will be displayed on one of his cab-over hydros, along with Mark's 175+ stock, mod, and alky outboards and much, much more. There is also a swap meet where old racing equipment/engines are popular among collectors. Google "Mark Suter AOMCI show" for more information. See you there,

Tim

Tim what kinda speeds are you getting with the Tohatsu versus your old motor (I think it was a two cylinder omc) ?

Speeds are 70-74 with the 45SS (development only), 60-64 with the Tohatsu (D-stock as raced), and 54-58 with the Merc MK58H (D-Stock as raced) depending on prop selection and conditions. It is fastest in windy, rough conditions. Best of all, it very comfortable in rough, and turns like it's on rails.

Marks collection of racing engines, boats, and accessories is exceptional. Picture can't really do it justice, but here's a try. See you there!

I guess I missed this posting. I really like the looks of this little "DEEP VEE".

Ernie Dawe once built a Deep Vee for the first ever 45 SS motor. No one thought much about the boat until we put the motor on a tunnel and put a 55-H on the Deep Vee. The Deep Vee was fast than Jimmy Dawe's "Regular" D Runabout,

Hi Ron,
Ernie was consulted at the beginning of this project. He was nice enough to send his original lofts. Design input from Chris Fabbro was also incorporated. Just like Ernie, a 45SS was used for development. It's an excellent match for the hull and would make an excellent rough water class. BTW: At 14'-11" this boat is far from little. It's size may contribute to the "Cadillac" ride even in the sloppiest water. It makes a hydro driver look good:-)
