I found this short shaft Evinrude Hustler model 1975 for sale that only has 3 water holes as the bigger club foot, was there a 3 hole nitro foot?
Doesn't all of the nitro foots have 4 holes for the water?
Are all nitro foots left hand drive?

Is this a club foot fitted with the shortshaft/gearlinkage from the short shaft?

it's a short shaft large (3 cylinder) case from a 70's era short shaft 70hp. They came with a four spline drive shaft

So this one will not have the fast gearing 15:28 ?
It has the slower 12:29 ?

In my opinion it looks like the bigger 4-1/8" foot not the 3-3/8" foot.

The 15" 75hp models after 1975 all had a 3-3/8" diameter case with the 15:28 ratio and the 20" models all had a 4-1/8" diameter case with the 12:29 ratio.

So this being a 15" 75hp model 1975 engine it must have a changed foot as the original that should have been on this should have been a 3-3/8" diamater case with the fast gearing..

You are correct someone has changed the gear case it will have the 2.42 gearing and is the 4 1/8.

Thanks for your reply, now im only going to make an offer on the engine and midsection, not the gearcase :)

Interesting... i have read somewhere that the bigger foot is better for tunnel boats and the nitro foot is better for V boats.

Where there both lefthand and righthand drives of these bigger cases?

no LH cases for that HP range ( fishing engines we are talking)
re the cases, what you might have heard is a swept skeg is good for a v bottom and the old straight skeg is better on a tunnel
On a tunnel you dont want any of that fat bullet in the water so low low pick up is the go
Nitro box was an option on the 15" but normal on the 75 bit not on the 70
