I'm running Race Track 87 rec fuel and the motor has been running really good, but my plugs look yellowish tan? I've never seen anything like this before.

What type and brand oil are you using, mineral, synthetic?

What ratio?

What engine do we have here?

Yamaha 30hp 3 cylinder running Pennzoil xlf 50:1. I think the yellow came from a lean condition that was caused by a weak fuel pump? It's running good and now my plugs look more tan. Now I just need to decide on a 100% synthetic oil?

What revs are you turning?
Does the Yame have chrome bores or regular?
Nothing wrong with more oil, 50:1 kinda light.

It's a fishing motor turning under 6000 for now. It was a junk parts motor and I don't trust it until it gets a new powerhead.

Lot of nice work put into that engine. The Penn XLF oil is good enough for that engine save money from syn. If you will us it for fishing and trolling the 50:1 OK but for high revs operation most of the time the I would use more oil like 32:1.
