56 cubic inch 3 cylinder SST60 differences from stock?

Can anyone please help me identify the difference in a stock 70 hp 3 cyl vs. an SST60?
I came across a used powerhead and want to purchase it but want to make sure I am not buying a fishing motor.
What years were they produced?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

the case will have glue lines, pull the head, put your finger on the top edge of the exhaust port, should have a wedge shape, not 90deg cut. 1985 first year thinkin.

Are the glue lines visible on the exterior of the case?
If it truly is a factory dressed SST 60 is the flywheel and head different from stock what about reeds?

glue lines are visible from the exterior, all stock, all the same. the cyl sleeve is what makes it an SST60 best i can tell.

Steel wheel & plastic top carb's are on motor's newer than sst-60.

This guy claims to have been a dealer and also raced, He got the powerhead from OMC complete minus carbs. What flywheel does SST60 use?

From what I've read on here the sst60 are lost foam blocks so they will have the webbing on the left side of the cylinders and the permanent mold blocks won't have the webbing. This motor has the newer fly wheel and carbs that come on the oval port blocks the oval port block have the plug with the serial numbers on the back of the block to the left of the head and the bridge ports have the plug on the right side on the top of the block. Pretty sure both the permanent mold and lost foam bridge ports can be ported to SST60 specs so the only real way to tell is to pull the head and look and the exhaust ports to see if they have been cut at a angle going up. Like I said that's what I've picked up from reading on here.

Yes for the 94 and newer motors. Same goes for the carbs.

The SST-60 is a Bridgeport motor with the angled upper lip on the exhaust ports. The port timing on the SST-60 is different then the stock 70 hp. The SST-60 also uses 1 1/2" bore carbs without the black plastic tops. The flywheels on the 49.7 cid newer motors and the 70 hp 56.1 cid are the same as the SST-60. The tuner on the SST-60 is shorter and much different then the stock 70 hp. Also, although the same head, the pocket depth is less on the SST-60. You can cut the head to accomplish the same thing. Reeds on the SST60 are plastic Boyesen reeds, but use the stock reed blocks as in the 70 hp.
