We acquired a B looper a little bit ago and it is a very late produced block. I should be hearing from Paul Christner soon about the estimated year it was produced. I know it was sold originally to Howard Shaw.
We sent it down to Steve to have a couple things done to it. It, like the A, needs a sleeve for the Mark 25 crank in order to accept the two stacked ball bearings. Had a new rope plate made for it like the A. Rings were made and this one came with good pistons that fit the bores nicely. Steve did an overall inspection of the parts and crank case fitting. Also needed the bolt pattern changed and water discharge altered for the elbows we received with the engine. They are the wider sweeping style. He also machined the looper reed cage it came with. Seals and such also provided. It should be coming home soon and I will start assembly.
You can see in the pictures this has the later exhaust divider inserts and the puff ports for the nitro conversion. It also has the water labyrinth and cover on top of the block that some loopers have, but none of ours up until have had. Steve has told me it was run, but is in nice shape. It is interesting to see a later engine like this. None of our others have these later features.
