Tillotson KC carb question

Working on a NOS Tillotson KC16A (same design as KC15A and other KC's and KA's). The idle tube on these carbs are secured into the body from the factory with a hard reddish sealant on the threads. To remove the tube the red sealant refuses to budge with a good fit and grip/twist with a slotted screw driver. Any tips out there what can be used to help soften the red sealant ? It is not an anaerobic type.

Reason: the idle tube correctly touches the front of the high speed main nozzle but is off centered to the right a bit in the main nozzle and needs to be corrected. A factory flaw that was missed.

Most of the secrue glues will "open" at around 100 - 120 degree Celsius. If you can heat it up locally i.e. with a soldering iron i would give this a try.

Not quite same design as KC15A... different idle tube. KC16 tube is longer than KC15 tube. And, the KC16 tube is unique to that model.

Most had sloppy assembly and misalignment, as you are finding. I bought 10 brand new ones BITD, no two were identical!

Good design, poor execution.

But the answer is heat. Heat the brass head, it should come loose...

Also recommend you replace OEM inlet needle and seat.

Thanks all, before heat I tried acetone on a cotton swab and several dabs to keep brass head area wet and it softened enough to loosen the tube.
