what is your intended use for the motor? Racing or playig in the lake?

I would be putting it on an old 9' hydro that my friends dad gave me for now.But i am currently looking into building one to race.

give up trying to find a 25XS for use on that old 9' hydro, as it will be a handful and very hard to find a 25XS, which will cost alot more. Leave the race motors to racers and just get yourself any old regular fishing type 20-25hp motor to "get your feet wet". Or.......just find an older complete "racing rig", as it will probably be a cheaper investment. There are several complete "C" sized hydro with motors for sale around. I think one of the better deals is the B&H C hydro/102 package that Dave Scott has here on this site for sale for UNDER $3000!!!!!
