In what could be regarded as the little bother of the Trans Atlantic record, an attempt will be made next weekend on the Trans Tasaman record between Australia and new Zealand. This is just over 1200 Nautical miles of open ocean with no islands safe havens along the way.
Like the Atlantic record was before Branson and Gentry got into it, this is help by a passanger ship right now.
Here is the team web site http://www.swashbucklersflyingpirate.co.nz/crew.html
The Tasman is no mill pond and is one of the roughest bits of water in the world, I will be safe on dry ground as the offical for the Sydney end of the attempt
