Louis is #85 from Waco. It might be Corky Callahan's boat.

That is John Calley's ep boat. John switched to an Oasis boat after the Allison. John also sponsered Roddy Foreman in SST60.

thanks for the info.what setup would this boat have in this class?.when i got it it had a four cyl. merc. 50 hp motor with regular teleflex nfb steering on it.it had a hole thru the transom which i'm guessing the trim cyl. went thru.
i've got an 84 70 hp evinrude with a 15" mid and a nitro gearcase that's going on it.it's had fingerports added and the ports raised a little, lightened pistons and wristpins and the head has been milled and grooved for o-rings.the one holdup is the trim, any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks,Allen

ps. Ron this one isn't for sale, but i'll keep my eyes open.

75 stinger, 1 1/2" setback, 1/2" up off the transom, tank right behind the seat, cable steering, 3 blade omc cleaver 21" pitch, and put 15 lbs in the nose if you dont weigh much. You dont have to set the motor back if you dont want to but most of the guys who raced with 13' Allisons around here did. I had a 14' Allison that didnt need any setback. To make the 840 lb race weight most people had to add a considerable amount of weight to be legal for EP. Johnny will get a kick out of knowing his old boat is still around. He probably still remembers his exact race setup.

PS. Back in the day power trim was not legal for EP. We would run some kind of thrust jack on the lower transom. Toward the end of EP power trim was legal along with the covered deck. For trim on the SE boats we would use the old mercury ram (cut off large eye) with an adapter bracket that bolted to the motor.

I Know A Guy That Had A 12' Allison. I Never Knew They Made One. I Saw His And It Is Awful Small. He Said It Is 12'. It Sure Looks A Lot Smaller Than A 13. He Might Still Have It.

thanks for the info.anyone got a photo of the trim setup for a stinger on this boat?

thanks,Allen

anyone ever tried an sst-60 mid and clamp bracket on it?

The sst60 clamp bracket is the same as the short shaft stingers. We used to make brackets for mounting the ram on the inside of the transom from a couple of pieces of heavy aluminium angle. You dont really need alot trim movement for on of these boats.

Anybody remember back in late 1950's, using a PORTA-POWER pump for a manual hydraulic trim in the wooden family ski boats we raced here in NORTHERN CAL? well it worked ,even though kinda primitive . It was usually pumped by the "deck rider". (Co-Pilot ?)

As Allen knows since 2010, I bought the boat new in 1981. Rigged it and George Laycock won the
NOA 40-70 nationals with it at Corbin, Ky. I raced it the next summer and sold it to John Calley who
may have won a nationals with it. 333 is John's nr. You can still see the remnants of my
name 'The Gambler' on the side near the transom but not in the photo. Jay cox and I widened the
pad to 8". The next 13' Allison I bought in 1982 was widened to 7" or 7.5".

Photos

1. Joe Burgess on the inside at Eufaula in GP. I finally got around him but we'd both jumped the gun.
2. Joe again
3. John Calley, looking good!

About 10 years ago, there was a used unit made by Dole Industries that was for sale on ebay, shown on a Merc 650. It had a small hand pump with a short handle in the boat, and a short ram between the clamp brackets on the transom. I always regretted not having paid whatever it took to get it, as Ive been looking for one since and havent seen anything like it.
