SST45 Trim Trouble..

Like a true dumba:Ds I decided to fix something that wasn't broken. I added some padding to the inside of the capsule for comfort and safety (thanks to suggestions from my buddy Burkhardt) and found that my trim connections on the steering wheel were green so I took them off and cleaned them up. As I looked over the boat I found that I had green corrosion connectors in the boat everywhere so one at a time I cleaned them all up and now I have no trim. No up or down, all that happens is the relays click.

I have spent 2hrs. or so today trying to fix it but no luck so far. Any suggestions? Both relays wouldn't be bad would they?? Better yet, why the hell would they be bad out of the blue when they had been working before I started messin with them?

I was having trouble with once in a while having to click the button a couple times like I had a bad connection but it was just once in a while and now it's broke.

Found the problem. The trim motor was full of water and 1 brush was broken in half. Now I have to find a 2 wire trim motor and I'm ready to race!

try your local starter /alternator repair/rebuild shop for new brushes. they are easy to put in. just take the old one with you to match it. my last set cost $10.00.

if you need a new trim motor you can get them from Arco.
I have had problems with them sucking moisture though, so run some silicone around the brush cap from the get go to help with the moisture problem.
Arco is the only place I have been able to find the trim motors.

Arco is the only place I have been able to find the trim motors.Thanks.. I ordered one from arco yesterday and I'm waiting for it to come in. Took me 2 days to figure out what motor I had but turns out it's for a Volvo outdrive.
