I have a stock 2.6 GT and was wondering if relieving the exhaust would be of benefit on topend, i am not worried about the holeshot and midrange. Since the 2.6 GT came with its own longer/shorter tuner would i just be shooting myself in the foot by relieving the exhaust? Thanks

Seems we ran the 235 Cross Flows before they built the GT. We always drilling the gearcase, Mercs always drilled the mid section...Seems that made the most sense on each motor.....(Not sure it gained speed, but did help it from blowing out!..Sounded COOL!!!!).

Our fastest and best 235 Cross Flows had no tuner, it was cut off flat and the exhaust was opedned as much as possible...Wilbur Weeks told me to do it and it seemed to work well!...

I would like to keep the stock look of the motor so should i drill into this good 2.6GT mid section of drill the case?

I would not touch the mid section, I'd drill about 4 1/2 holes in the gearcase above the cavition plate...on each side of the gearcase.

Why not touch the mid?

Anytime you drill holes in things, it gets weaker. Drilling holes in the mid section will weaken more than drilling the gearcase.
