Doug Rea and Family

This is a photo of Doug Rea at Puddingstone, 1987. I must have been at this race, but don't recall the accident. The old course at Puddingstone was a triangle and very large. It was hard to see the back strech from the pits.

I really didn't know Doug at this time, but think his brother, Jim also raced. Doug's daughter, Angie Rea has raced C Stock Hydro for about three or four years now.

Doug was or is the Champ Boat referee and a big supporter of APBA. He h worked tirelessly at the los Angeles APBA National Meeting and works at all SoCal boat races.

Doug told me this accident broke his back...

Ron, I remember this accident. I was racing in the heat and had thrown a blade so I was sitting dead on the course. I believe he did this crossing the finish line. I also believe that it was his last hydro ride. He continued racing but only in the runabout. Thanks for posting the picture.
