I'm interested in the 22 ci mod that Brinkman worked on but Google doesn't help and the manual has little information on this motor.
Could anyone point me to the information.

Will add a few more pictures of the repairs to the front cover and the clean up of the mid case. The engine has been reassembled and ready to mount back onto the tower housing that is still attached to the boat. Hope to get the boat back down today and reassemble and test start again. Back to working 6 days a week again and trying to find enough time.

The mid case cleaned up quite well. Just some Dremal work to knock off the edges.

Setup the new reed replacement center mains and rechecked the crank centering clearances due to some slight rub marks at the edge of the bearing race on the crank. Removed some of the material on the bearing shell for more clearance.

I also rechecked the piston deck clearance. There was no evidence of pistons hitting the heads on any of the other cylinders, so was just an exercise to verify where it was set.

I did finally get the exhaust extension molds done and had the parts cast. They are an inch and a half longer and larger in diameter.

The engine is back on the boat and was successfully test started Sunday. This time extreme caution was used and the throttle was left in the closed position. As the excess assembly oil was burned off the RPM rose to a stable level. The throttle butterflies will not seal completely tight leaving about a 32nd of an inch open on the bottom. That is all the air it could pull, with a load in the water it would not run with that opening. I also set the timing back to .125 BTDC to tame it down.

Now back on the trailer and will begin looking for a place to do some testing on the water.

Those boats were my fathers love. After he retired he spent his time making wooden birds with spinning wings that were painted to match the breed of bird. He sold those birds and became known as the bird man in the Fl park that he stayed at. With his earnings would buy his kit boats, motors and equipment and build them and of course run them. He sold off some of them and gave a few away toward the end of his years. These remain and I will have to find new homes for them.
My 1st, 2nd, what ever love, according to my wife, is the white bird in the back ground of the video with the engine running.
As the plan stands today, we will take the beast to Hillsdale Mi Friday September 11 for a day of testing. Will take some videos, good or bad, hopefully all good. What ever the results are, they will be what they will be. If your in the area or have nothing better to do, it may be fun. I will also run the 60 inch looper. I also hope to run the smaller M-14 which now has the 60 inch deflecter from the beast powered boat. It is a great running engine and should be a good ride. With the exception of the beast engine, this is all original equipment, as run on these boats during the early 1960's, 1963 thru 1970 to be exact. I ran the M21 boats and John McMullen of Lapeer Mi ran the M14's. All 4 boats were built new for John and the best I could do was to buy his used equipment. As I have read by others on the site, there will be nothing like the alky racing of the 60,s. Had a good time, met great people and had FUN.
