Tim Kurcz, what is that right before the cool can, right after the pump?
and what is that at the top of the fuel rail? ( just after the carbs)

thats the regulator. it goes- filter -pump -reulator.
then after the carbies is an orifice
the rule book is short for Bandit and Outlaw, if it don't say you can, you can't.
it was talked about for "X" and voted down.
okay so its late here and i have a question:
Mr Kurcz has advised us he runs 16:1 oil.
Mr Fast has advised mod 50 book says 50:1
my question is: the life span i think i read fred saying 50 hours of WOT?
with more oil less friction does this make the engine live longer?
so 50hrs of WOT @ 50/1...
xx hrs at 16/1...
might be a dumb question but i want to ask.

for me, just my .02, more oil make more of a mess. kind of oil makes more of a dif'
semi synthetic:eek:;) at 25 to1 makes a mess all over her self.
more oil = less friction?
Less friction = less metal to metal contact
more oil = rings seal better
better ring seal = more power
( more power = finish race earlier so less engine hours)
more power = more heat/pressure?
more heat/pressure = ?
I am suprised the MOD 50 manual says 50:1?
every OMC race engine manual I have seen says 25:1
I think the evidence on this site and many other 2 stoke sites says there will be more power all the way rich till 16:1
Fred making a mess.. Mine made a mess when she had a weak spark on one. Changed that and she was all clean.
Has had a few idles on trailer no mess... Then a 'putt' on the river with too much fuel and no mess.
Powerabout: more heat i disagree with on avgas its keeping temp's down..
Did u get your housing?
Ya cant make more power without more combustion heat as thats what expands the gas more.
(all other things being equal)
I think the guys were talking that the latent heat of evaporation of avgas is better than petrol ( I dont know) so when it changes state from liquid to a gas it pulls in lots of energy, i.e. heat so therefore cools the air down for better volumetric efficiency so more fuel, more air, bigger bang, more heat, more expansion.
If you are running an engine on the dyno and the dew point is very low you can see ice forming in on the carbs especailly using methanol.
Remember carby heat on airplanes, lower air pressure lowers the boiling point of the fuel and the dew point.
Re Housing
Wifey banged herself up sailing on the weekend so is down for the count.
She will go tomorrow if she can, thanks for checking.
I am out of town at the moment.
Cheers
Powerabout
Latent heat of evaporation of AV gas is essentially the same as street gas
oil don't Boom as good as fuel:eek: it just don't. the semi synthetic will give it better ware protection, to much and i'm thinkin she stick the rings, compression
is right there just got to keep it wet with oil, i don't think swimmin in oil is goin to work as well, have't seen it yet.
what regulator yous using in that diagram? what size re turn line?
Im using a holley style reg.
My returns 8mm same as the in. On the return i have a T fitting 8mm in then 4mm for choke the 8mm return to tank with orifcaces as required.:eek:
cool cans are leagle in x class
have you ever seen a hull with a dry ice can go through inspection after the race, and pass, and or not get DQed for the "can", just askin.:cool:Quote:
Detroit Whitey , said, cool cans are leagle in x class
why does fuel psi not drop at the carb? cuzz it can just free flow back to the tank, does the 5/16's line back the volume up so it run's to the carbs as well?
my step Mom has passed on, She was 95, i will see her off today.:(
thanks guys, got to talk to a B-17 pilot today, that was cool.
my return set up is vary similar to the drawing, why do see it pullin air bubbles?
it's all 3/8'th line, the reg has one "in" and two "outs", one out has a big pin, it chokes off the return line to set 3 and a 1/2 psi to the carbs, total available fuel
some thin like 84GPH, something like that. what pump are yous runnin?
Hey Fred sorry to hear about your step Mom
you have to put restriction in the line straight after the last carb. as per the diagram. otherwise it does free flow:eek:
i have two restrictors to allow build up in the T fitting for the choke.
how do you have the fuel set up?
i MAY be able to take a little picture of my fuel so you can see how ive done it.

hey fred what kind of boat you going to run that beast on
got one of them Super Lite Tunnels, fred likes the way the skater handles:eek::cool: and flys

Hey fred i have a straight in front for sale.. Its in 'parts other' need one ??
fred i would like to see you put that on a alum flat and see how it would run would be fun playing with something diffrent but boat looks cool
Explain that sail boat rigging to me.
Negate torque steer:confused:
What do u do with the free end of the line in the cockpit?
You have good taste in 'green' motors
Thought 1st that big one was an RD13,
but now thinking maybe S-A 30?
I bet the unseen end of the steering line is going to the tiller ... all the rest of the steering rigging is torque amplification from the tiller input, so he is still steering via the tiller, but with some leverage assistance.
I did not know Sam Hemp raced inflatables (that's supposed to be a compliment Sam).
it goes up to a suspended slip cleat, then cross the boat right in front of where i sit, so i can adjust for torque steer on the fly, if i need more ya just pull up on the bungee, less ya just give the line a snap and send the tension out, all of it or some of it.
it works to keep the boat straight for miles, with out it not thinkin you would make a mile, before you had to stop till you could feel your arm again:cool:

hey fred what do you expect that boat run empty and what u think its going to run in race i would like to no more about this race i would like to see the rules we may be interested in coming up and running next year
gene, on your way to boston,to race with fast fred, stop off in milton, fla. let's see what that merc will do... later
75 if i go by milton u going to have to with us i am going to need a rider on that long of a trip i am really interested in this race
thinkin at 85mph guna run out of hull, been tryin to talk this 90lb girl to race with me, not goin well , the talk, thinkin she guna punch me any time now.
should be good for 80mph or so. Aquarius is about the fastest hull, ceasar makes a good hull, one of them hulls would be needed, 1000cc or less
all safety rules aply. them is the rules :cool:
Fred i hope you did some bottom work on that mako to try and run even mid 70`s the one i had would try and fly like a plane and that was just the start of the swimin trip looks good though!!
the hull is trick, not like the others.
hey fred have you ran boat yet
oh yes i have run the hull, got some shots hear, new camera, see how she looks:eek::cool:
http://i47.tinypic.com/1ewitk.jpg
try that, should work for ya.
cool picks
56 with 6 pak
and a bridgeport 49er?
well did you run the 56 on there did it run like you wanted it to let us no speed and rpm:cool:
i dont think thats a 49er? as the exhaust seems to be sitting out like a 56er? i think its a 56er with a mod 50 sleeve?? so the block on the left with the single throat carbs on it?
